Mowgli School
Igualada
In education, the quality of lighting is a key factor in students' well-being and academic performance. In many schools, especially in urban environments, the lack of natural light can represent a significant challenge, affecting students' ability to see the blackboard and other teaching materials clearly. In this context, the lighting project we have carried out for the Mowgli School in Igualada aims to solve this problem by implementing suspended linear systems of direct and indirect light, specifically designed to improve learning conditions.

The installation of suspended luminaires that emit indirect light is an optimal solution for nursery schools. This type of lighting is characterised by its ability to distribute light evenly throughout the room, avoiding the creation of shadows or glare that can interfere with pupils' concentration. Indirect lighting is particularly effective in environments where natural light is limited, as is often the case in many urban educational institutions. By illuminating the room softly and evenly, it creates a more welcoming and less stressful learning environment.

Luminaires with indirect lighting offer numerous advantages for both students and educational staff. Firstly, indirect lighting contributes to the creation of a more relaxing and comfortable environment, which is essential for concentration and general well-being. In addition, indirect light can be used strategically to highlight certain elements of the classroom, such as reading areas or display spaces, which in turn enriches the educational experience.

From an energy efficiency perspective, luminaires with indirect light are often more cost-effective in the long term compared to direct lighting. By reducing glare and eye fatigue, these luminaires not only improve visibility, but also help maintain a healthy and pleasant environment for all users of the educational space. This investment, while it may seem costly initially, is highly beneficial in the long run, as it not only optimises the academic performance of students, but also improves the overall aesthetics and functionality of the school environment.

The lighting project carried out at the Mowgli School in Igualada has managed to transform the educational spaces through the implementation of suspended linear systems of direct and indirect light. These luminaires not only ensure adequate and efficient lighting, but also contribute to creating a welcoming and visually pleasing environment, which is perfectly in tune with the specific needs of a nursery school. By opting for indirect light luminaires, the Mowgli School has not only improved the quality of lighting, but has taken a significant step towards creating a more modern and efficient educational environment, aligned with best practice in school design.
