In this lighting project for the Iglesia del Pinar in Chamartín, we have integrated solutions that respect the neo-gothic architecture while maximising the functionality and aesthetics of the space.

The lighting of a church requires a delicate approach that takes into account both the natural light entering through the stained glass windows and the specific needs of the congregation during religious services. For this project, we opted for the installation of recessed spotlights and suspended linear luminaires. These luminaires not only blend harmoniously into the neo-gothic structure of the church, but also provide balanced lighting that enhances key architectural elements such as the arches, vaults and stained glass windows.

The recessed spotlights have been strategically placed to illuminate the main altar and surrounding areas, highlighting the beauty of the ornamental details without dazzling parishioners. On the other hand, linear suspended luminaires provide uniform light throughout the nave and aisles, ensuring that every corner of the church is adequately illuminated without interfering with natural light.



One of the most significant challenges in this project was to achieve a seamless integration between the natural light coming through the stained glass windows and the artificial lighting provided by the luminaires. The stained glass windows, depicting scenes from the life of Christ, are a central feature of the Pinar Church, and it was essential that the new lighting did not compete with their visual impact, but complemented it.



The new lighting was not to compete with their visual impact, but to complement it. To achieve this, we designed a lighting system that allows the intensity of the artificial light to be adjusted according to the amount of natural light available, creating a warm and welcoming ambience throughout the day. This solution not only enhances the visual experience for churchgoers, but also contributes to energy conservation by reducing electricity consumption when natural light is sufficient.

The new lighting system in the Iglesia del Pinar not only improves visibility and safety inside the church, but also enhances the majesty of its neo-gothic architecture. The well-distributed and controlled light highlights the finer details of the structure, creating a solemn atmosphere that invites reflection and prayer. In addition, the implementation of efficient LED technology ensures that the system is sustainable and environmentally friendly.
